Frequently Asked Questions

I came from another physician who prescribed me a schedule II drug. Are you able to continue this medication?

No, Dr. Thompson is not licensed to prescribe drugs that are anything less than a scheduled III substance. Any continuation of schedule II substances or less will have to be referred out to a specialist for management.

Today is Tuesday, I had my bloodwork drawn yesterday. Are the results back?

We are fortunate to have an in-house laboratory, but just because we have this in house does not mean that tests will result sooner. All samples are sent out each day by 1:30pm to Solaris Diagnostics. Any labs drawn after this time will be sent out the following day. Solaris Diagnostics shall receive the samples within 1 day and they will begin processing for results. Dr. Thompson will be notified of these results and a nurse will call you within 1-2 business days. Typical TAT for lab results is 3 business days.

I injured my back and might need an x-ray. Where will I have to go?

If Dr. Thompson orders any diagnostic imaging, we can happily send you to American Health Imaging Rome (formerly Coosa Diagnostics) or to Polk Medical Center Radiology. We are also able to send orders to other locations upon request.

I have a cough and a runny nose. I would like to be seen today, what do I need to do?

We are here to kindly provide care to all patients. If you are in need of a sick visit, give us a call and let us know you need to be seen and we will happily work you into our same-day schedule.

I received a statement in the mail, what does this mean?

If you receive a statement in the mail, this means that you have a balance on your account. You are entitled to further information as an explanation for the charges on your account. This information will kindly be provided to you if requested.
